The relationship that we have with our doctors is one of the most important ones, especially the one we have with our Gynecologist. As our reproductive health can be listed as our top health areas to always keep check of, as it is from our reproductive area that life is literally birthed. While I’m on the topic of birth let me take this time to wish all Mothers, grandmothers, step mothers all mamas a very Happy Mother’s Day, and every day is Mother’s Day so I’m not late.
Our Gynecological Health should be one of our priorities; the doctor whom you decide to be your Gynecologist should be mature, experienced and professional. (We at Adams Healthcare have 10 years of experience under our belts) So having chosen the right Gynecologist for you, let’s look at some of the healthy habits for Good Gynecological Health.
*Annual Gynecological check-up: As a general rule, all women should have a pelvic exam at least once per year. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, if you’re over 21 but fewer than 29, you should have a pelvic exam once a year. This yearly visit should include a General Women’s Wellness Exam including a Pap smear.
*Practice Safe Intercourse: Ways that you can practice safer sex include: Having sex with only one partner, when neither of you has any STIs, is the safest way to have sex. Be STI free by getting tested for common infections and having treatment if necessary, especially if you have a new partner.

*Healthy Diet: A healthy diet is a diet that helps maintain or improve overall health. A healthy diet provides the body with essential nutrition: fluid, macro nutrients, micro-nutrients, and adequate food energy.
A diet which includes the following: Fruit, vegetables, legumes (e.g. lentils and beans), nuts and whole grains (e.g. unprocessed maize, millet, oats, wheat and brown rice). At least 400 g (i.e. five portions) of fruit and vegetables per day (2), excluding potatoes, sweet potatoes, cassava and other starchy roots.

*Maintain a healthy weight: a healthy weight is one that can be comfortably maintained with “normal” healthy eating and regular physical activity, and is absent of medical problems.

*Work out regularly: Exercise helps people lose weight and lower the risk of some diseases. Exercising regularly lowers a person’s risk of developing some diseases, including obesity, type 2 diabetes, and high blood pressure. Exercise also can help keep your body at a healthy weight.
